The official website for 43-year-old anime director Tatsuyuki Nagai (Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day, The Anthem of the Heart)’s new original feature film Sora no Aosa wo Shiru hito yo (The person who knows about the sky’s blueness) has posted a 90-second full trailer featuring its theme song performed by 24-year-old singer-songwriter Aimyon.
This is the third and final installment of the trilogy anime project set in Chichibu-city, Saitama Prefecture, following Anohana and The Anthem.
Its story follows two Aioi sisters, Akane (CV: Riho Yoshioka) and Aoi (Shion Wakayama), who have lived together since their parents’ passing 13 years ago. One day, older sister Akane’s ex-boyfriend Shinnosuke Kanemuro (Ryo Yoshizawa), who is 31 now, visits the city to perform at a festival. At the same time, 18-year-old Shinnosuke, called Shinno, also time-travels from 13 years ago. While Aoi starts falling love with the 18-year-old Shinno, Akane and the 31-year-old Shinnosuke finally reunite…
Sora no Aosa wo Shiru hito yo will be released in Japan on October 11, 2019. The other two members of Cho-Heiwa Busters, the creative unit that worked on the previous two, join this third installment: Mari Okada provides a screenplay, Masayoshi Tanaka serves as character designer/chief animation director. In addition, Hiroyuki Shimizu (Anohana, The Anthem) and Genki Kawamura (Your Name.) support the film as producer.
