After the great success of their collab with artist Kaws, Uniqlo is back with a new collection. This time the color dedicating a collection to the legendary artist, ukiyo-e painter and printmaker Katshushika Hokusai. The collection mainly focuses on he color blue (Hokusai Blue) epitomizing his extensive body of work while reinterpreting a traditional sense of Japanese beauty into modern form. The collection consist of crewnecks and tees.
Hokusai Blue was founded in Kyoto during the Meiji Period (1868-1912), Unsodo is Japan’s only publishing company that makes traditional Japanese books with hand -printed woodblock prints. From its woodblock print archives, this collection focuses on the blue from Hokusai’s famous “36 Views of Mt. Fuji” collection.
